With the introduction of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002 there has been a significant paradigm shift from personnel being simply "trained" to statutory requirements for competence.
To support organisations in meeting their requirements for competently trained personnel Tai Poutini Polytechnic through the Emergency Management Department (EMANZ) provide a continuum of NZQA accredited training.
